Types of Honours and Awards
- The highest award under the HKSAR Honours and Awards System
- To recognise the selected person's life-long and highly significant contribution to the well-being of Hong Kong
Awarded to eminent persons who have given very distinguished service to the community or who have rendered public or voluntary service of a very high degree of merit
Awarded for acts of gallantry of the greatest possible heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger
Awarded to persons who have taken a leading part in public affairs and/or voluntary work over a long period of time
Awarded for gallantry of an extremely high order
Hong Kong Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PDSM)
Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Hong Kong Police Force in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community
Hong Kong Fire Services Medal for Distinguished Service (FSDSM)
Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Fire Services Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community
Hong Kong Immigration Service Medal for Distinguished Service (IDSM)
Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Immigration Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community
Hong Kong Customs and Excise Medal for Distinguished Service (CDSM)
Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Customs and Excise Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community
Hong Kong Correctional Services Medal for Distinguished Service (CSDSM)
Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Correctional Services Department in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community
Government Flying Service Medal for Distinguished Service (GDSM)
Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the Government Flying Service in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community
Hong Kong ICAC Medal for Distinguished Service (IDS)
Awarded to selected disciplined directorate officers in the ICAC in recognition of their exceptional and meritorious service to the community
Awarded to persons who have given outstanding service over a long period of time, but in a more limited field or way than that required for the Silver Bauhinia Star
Awarded for exemplary acts of gallantry of a lesser standard

Awarded to selected disciplined officers of all ranks of the Hong Kong Police Force for their valuable services characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct

- Also awarded to non-directorate civil servants who have served with distinction
